Thailand Phang-Nga Challenger Expedition

On this educational school trip your students will work with sea turtle focussing on conservation and environmental protection.

Our challenger expedition gives teenage students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, self-awareness and resilience skills.

Travel to southern Thailand and join GVI in vibrant Phang-Nga, a province along the Andaman sea. Phang-Nga has plenty of white sand beaches, tropical islands, amazing limestone formations, and caves to enjoy.

Thailand Phang-Nga Challenger Expedition

Day 1: Arrive in Thailand

Your school will arrive at Phuket Airport where you’ll meet your tour leader who will be with you throughout your expedition. You’ll start with an orientation discussion about what to expect and an introduction to Thailand.

Day 2: Orientation and Training

Start the day with an health and safety briefing, followed by training where you’ll learn about our local projects and partnerships. As part of your training, you will learn about turtle conservation and prepare for your first expedition activities.

Day 3: Team Challenge

Applying teamwork and planning from the previous day, your group will work together to assist with cleaning turtle tanks and turtles. Learn to set goals as a group, assign roles and work together to contribute toward local conservation efforts.

What to expect on a Thailand Phang-Nga Challenger Expedition

Work alongside local partners to promote sea turtle conservation, environmental protection, conduct bird and butterfly surveys and assist with coastal clean ups. Learn more community development and how to engage ethically with local communities. Contribute to community development initiatives through activities like construction projects designed around community needs and requests.

Team Challenge

Applying teamwork and planning from the previous day, your group will work together to assist with cleaning turtle tanks and turtles. Learn to set goals as a group, assign roles and work together to contribute toward local conservation efforts.

Hike and Camp in the Jungle

Spend your days hiking through a national park. In the evening set up camp by the waterfalls and learn how to cook with bamboo utensils. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up to the call of the gibbons and wild pigs nearby.

Orientation and Training

Start the day with an health and safety briefing, followed by training where you’ll learn about our local projects and partnerships. As part of your training, you will learn about turtle conservation and prepare for your first expedition activities.
