Visit two world-renowned museums on Kensington’s Exhibition Row - the Science Museum and the Museum of Natural History

DAY 3 - LONDON ZOO, FLEMING’S LAB & FARADAY MUSEUM

Visit London Zoo and then watch a presentation at Fleming’s Laboratory – where Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928. End the day at the Royal Institution visiting the Faraday Museum, where you can discover historic artefacts from over 200 years of world-class scientific research, experiment and invention.

What to expect on a STEM trip to Europe

Fleming's Lab and Faraday Museum

Fleming discovered the antibiotic penicillin at St Mary's Hospital in 1928, a breakthrough that revolutionised medicine and earned him a Nobel Prize! The Faraday's museum is spread across three floors, the stuff of science is woven throughout the building. In fact, wherever you go, you'll discover the instruments and people that have made science work for the last two hundred years!

Deutsches Museum

With over 28,000 exhibits, the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany is the largest science museum in the world. It is home to some of the world's most contemporary masterpieces of science and art. Its new technologies section explores the concept of robot assistants and looks at the future of robotics and science in tomorrow's world. Don't miss the high-voltage demonstration where your students will get the chance to witness a voltage of about 270 kV, made visible by a discharge across a spark gap.

S’Cool Lab at CERN

S’Cool LAB is a Physics Education Research facility at CERN. S'Cool LAB offers students and their teachers the chance to take part in hands-on & minds-on particle physics experiment sessions on-site at CERN. This amazing workshop gives students a glimpse of life working in a world-leading research institute! Your students will have the opportunity to engage with CERN teachers and scientists and apply their knowledge.
