No area is quite like any other - these countries pulse with life, vibrance and excitement. From phở to bún bò Huế, and bánh mì, the cuisine in Southeast Asia is limitless and exciting. Students will have the chance to try the famous Ho Chi Minh City food carts, a Vietnamese BBQ and a cooking class where they will learn to make traditional dishes.

This trip itinerary is jam-packed with educational opportunities. On this 12-day trip itinerary, students will explore Huế, Hạ Long Bay, Hội An, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap.

Vietnam & Cambodia trip itinerary

DAY 1: TRAVEL TO HANOI
Depart from your nearest international airport and fly to Hanoi.

DAY 2: HANOI CITY TOUR & PUPPET SHOW
This morning teachers and students will head on a half day city tour of Hanoi. Take in the highlights of Hanoi's history and cultures with visits to the war museum and Ho Chi Minh Museum. After lunch, visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple on a 1-hour cylco tour. For dinner, you will visit the social enterprise, KOTO. The disadvantaged youth here will be providing your dinner and a water puppet show.

DAY 3: HANOI TO HẠ LONG BAY
Breakfast at the Hotel and depart by coach to Hong Gai Wharf. Once you've arrived in Hạ Long Bay, you will board a boat cruise. Enjoy a buffet lunch with Vietnamese dishes served while cruising through the bay. Sights include: Soi Sim beach, coconut three island and dog stone islet. Enjoy the afternoon swimming (weather permitting), at Ti Top Beach before attending a Vietnamese cooking class on the sundeck. You won't want to miss Hạ Long Bay's famous sunset this evening.

What to expect on a school trip to Vietnam and Cambodia with Educating Adventures

Students will experience the mesmerising sites of Southeast Asia, meet the friendly locals and discover the rich cultural and historical history. Explore mysterious caves, go swimming or simply relax on the beach at Halong Bay. Find your inner zen by starting the day with a Tai Chi class. Get a sneak peek at the underground life of Vietnamese soldiers back in 1948 during tours of the Chu Chi Tunnels! The site has over 120km of underground tunnels, with trapdoors, living areas, kitchens, storage facilities, armoury, hospitals, and command centres.

Half-day tour of Hue

Hue is a city rich in history. Not only was it the capital of Vietnam for 143 years, it is home to 7 imperial tombs and the ancient Imperial City. Your local guide will show you around this peaceful city, exploring the UNESCO-listed Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City. The scenic landscape and overwhelming beauty of this city add to the historical significance, and everywhere you look there is something to see and learn.

DMZ tour - Visit the Truong Son Cemetery

Dedicated to the estimated 25,000 men, women and children that died on the Truong Son Trail. Truong Son Cemetery is the resting place of over 13,000 brave martyrs and is designed to honour and show gratitude to the Vietnamese that died in the name of liberation and reunification of their country. This moving site is a location representative of what the Vietnamese fought for in the Vietnam war, independence and peace. International friends are encouraged to pay tribute to the martyrs that gave their lives and your students will leave with a true sense of the cost of the war on the Vietnamese people.

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is known for is known for it's emerald waters and many limestone islands. On your visit to Ha Long Bay you will embark on an Overnight Cruise. Savour a delectable lunch as you cruise among the limestone islands. Explore the amazing Sung Sot Cave – the most beautiful cave in Halong Bay. Cruising to Titov island. Go swimming and relax at the beach or climb up to the top of the island for a panorama view of Halong Bay.
