Over 2,000 years ago the ancient Greek civilisations introduced concepts that would shape modern democracy, science, philosophy, and medicine. From ancient citadels and lost civilisations to the site of the first Olympic games. Students will become immersed in the history and culture of ancient Greece building an understanding of its legacy in today’s world.
Discover the world’s most successful ancient civilisation and the grandfather of western culture as we know it today, the Roman Empire. Walk among the ghosts of Pompeii and wonder at centuries-old architecture at the Arch of Constantine. A visit to Italy isn’t complete without learning the traditional craft of pizza making, and let’s be honest who doesn’t love pizza!
Day 1: Arrive in Rome
Upon arrival your students will take a guided tour of the mighty Colosseum. Visit the Arch of Constantine, Ara Pacis, and Circus Maximus and then a free afternoon. Pizza Making evening – learn how to make Italian pizza and then eat it!
Day 2: The Vatican City
The Vatican City, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It's home to the Pope and a trove of iconic art and architecture. Guided Tour - Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and The Basilica of St Peter!
Day 3: Ancient City of Ostia
Believed to have been founded as far back as the 7th century BC. Ostia may have been Rome's first colonia, explore the large theatre, many baths and temples, taverns, Inns and harbour buildings.

Explore magnificent temples, discover incredible works of art and astonishing architecture. Immerse your students in one of the world’s greatest empires and discover what it was like to live as a Roman through the remarkable archaeological site of Pompeii preserved by the ash from Mount Vesuvius’ eruption.
Its most famous eruption took place in the year 79 A.D., when the volcano Mount Vesuvius buried the ancient Roman city of Pompeii under a thick carpet of volcanic ash. The dust “poured across the land” like a flood, one witness wrote, and shrouded the city in “a darkness… like the black of closed and unlighted rooms.” Two thousand people died, and the city was abandoned for almost as many years.
An ancient city and one of the major centres of Greek civilisation was a military stronghold dominating much of southern Greece. The Bronze-age acropolis, or citadel, is one of the great cities of the Mycenaean civilization that played a vital role in developing classical Greek culture.
Visit the Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval amphitheater in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine limestone, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it was the largest amphitheater ever built at the time and held 50,000 spectators.
The Roman Forum is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the centre of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum.
