DAY 1 - TRAVEL DAY

Depart from your home city and fly to New York.

DAY 2 - PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP & CITY TOUR

See New York's iconic Brooklyn Bridge on a photography workshop today. Learn about how to capture the perfect image and take in the magnificent skyline of New York. Then have lunch, and head to Central Park to explore the numerous gardens in the area.

DAY 3 - WALKING TOUR OF BROOKLYN

This morning, discover the difference between tags, throw-ups, vandalism, street art, graffiti, murals and wheat-pastes on a walking tour of ultra-hip Brooklyn. In the afternoon, you will explore the legacy and future of photography through the dynamic and inspiring exhibitions at the International Centre of Photography.

What to expect on your Arts trip to the USA

Choose your destination(s) from a range of exciting locations, workshops and guided tours, on this multi-faceted arts tour. Visit museums, participate in art workshops and visit landmarks that have made American art and music famous worldwide. Visit the Asian Art and Cartoon Art Museums of San Francisco and for those with an interest in architecture, you cannot miss Chicago, famed for its skyscrapers and the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright, along with the Art Institute of Chicago.

Trip activities

San Francisco

San Francisco’s liberal and creative reputation makes it a haven for creative expression. From experimental to traditional there is something for everyone. Take a walking tour of the mural-covered Mission District before heading back to a workshop space to discover your own graffiti style and experiment with a spray can! Or, tour the De Young and Legion of Honor, which together comprise the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

Los Angeles

Loved for its sunshine, theme parks and Hollywood, LA is a fun stop on any itinerary with some great museums and activities for your students. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has an encyclopaedic collection ranging from pre-history to contemporary art. The Getty Centre has an extensive fine art and photography collection, and on a tour of Universal Studios, students can learn about special effects and design.

Washington

The US capital Washington has a thriving art scene with many awe-inspiring galleries and museums.As well as soaking in must-see sights such as the White House and the Capitol Building, we recommend the National Gallery of Art which covers both classical paintings, sculptures and modern art. The National Portrait Gallery is a fascinating stop as it tells the story of America by portraying the people who have shaped the nation’s history, development and culture.
