Meeting and hanging out with the NBA Detroit Pistons was more than a dream come true for Sydney Technical students.

Already excited about their school tour to NASA – Sydney Technical students and teachers were blown away when they received the special invite to meet and hang out with the NBA stars from Detroit Pistons.

Meeting with the Detroit Pistons was absolute inspirational for the students and lead teacher Julie Carrington who meet her number one NBA star Ben Wallace!

Although the basketball was a highlight the customised NASA trip was a huge success.

“It was an unique opportunity for my students to see and experience Nasa and the Kennedy Space Centre up close! Very valuable.”
Julie Carrington

Watching a NBA basketball game and meeting the NBA stars is a perfect example of how EA School Tours customises school tours to meet the needs and requirements for each school group.

The man in the moon might not change from month to month, but the lunar surface didn’t always look this way.

This short video is a great school teaching resource – perfect complement for any NASA space based science or maths school tour

The moon formed when an enormous, Mars-sized object hit Earth around 4.5 billion years ago. This shot a huge plume of ejecta into space, which within a century coalesced into the round body of the moon.

St Joseph College (from Australia) are on their school ski trip in Heavenly Tahoe, United States.

Here we showcase some of the highlights from the tour. Check out St Joseph’s full blog here for more and some great videos!

First night at Tahoe

So far things have run very smoothly and we are just a little ahead of time.

A big thanks to “Educating Adventures” who picked out the accommodation which is perfect for the boys.

To give you an idea, here in Tahoe, all accommodation is in the village and each morning everyone catches the gondola up the mountain to the slopes. In our case, we are about 200m from the gondola and in fact it goes right about our pool. The trip up the mountain is about 20 minutes but this is 20 minutes of just beautiful scenery as you look over Lake Tahoe.

Skiing and riding at Heavenly Tahoe

The slopes themselves today were well groomed and a joy to ride. There is something for everyone with some entry level slopes for the beginners and then some wonderfully long wide runs for those who have skied for some time. For those with a little more adrenalin in their system, the terrain park got a nice work out as well.

Today saw many of the boys being a little more adventurous with more than half of the group moving from the Nevada side of the mountain to the California side. This side has a few slightly harder runs but the advantage of having less people over there.

Day in San Francisco trip – well worth it.

Today was our first full day in San Francisco and an opportunity to see a large amount of this beautiful city.

we headed to “Bay City Bikes” where each of us picked up a bike in preparation for our San Francisco riding experience. This was just fantastic. We rode along the shores of San Francisco Bay before we headed up the steep incline to the Golden Gate Bridge. Having our own famous bridge in Sydney did nothing to take away from incredible feeling as we rode along the bridge, stopping a few times to admire the incredible view of the bay, Alcatraz and some seals swimming below us. The weather was perfect for the ride and there is no doubt that this was an experience that we will all remember for a long long time.

Here a few quotes from Harrogate Students out tour with EA School Tours during their school trip to Arizona United States. Check out the full school tour blog here

This trip has quite simply been the best school trip I’ve been on. Everyday has been both fun and enlightening for me and I thank all those involved in leading and organising it, you’ve been great! As an enthusiastic geographer and historian this was the perfect trip for me; the Arizona landscape was stunning. Covering so many miles in five days, we got to observe some of the most spectacular geology. What was most special about this trip though was the fact that it oozed education and history which we absorbed sometimes without knowing it. I was, in a slightly ‘Turnerian’ way, touched by the landscape, the people and the history of the area. Thank you so much!!! ~ Rob.

This trip has definitely been a once in a life time experience, it has been so enjoyable, I’ve loved every minute of it and would happily do it all again given the chance! Loved meeting new people, everyone has been amazing. ~ Hayley :)

This trip has been one of the best experiences ever. I have loved learning about the Navajo beliefs and have found everything very interesting. Visiting the grand canyon was just unreal for me and I probably speak for the rest of the group on this. Canyon de Chelly was just as good and everyone has got amazing photos. I would like to say a massive thank you to the teachers who supervised us and put up with us for the week. In addition, I would like to say a massive thank you to Lesley our tour guide and Ed our driver for the week, we all really appreciate the effort put into this trip! ~ Laura :)

Im so greatful to have been given the opportunity to go on the Arizona trip, its been one of the best experiences and the best school trip. Ive enjoyed being part of the school group and meeting new people. Also, learning about the Native American culture, visiting the Grand Canyon and horse riding at the ranch! Thank you to the teachers, our tour guide Lesley and others involved for making it possible… ~ Savannah:)

Hi:) its Renal. I can’t believe its over… So many memories and good times, hard to believe we went to Arizona! This opportunity was theee best ever and I enjoyed myself ALL OF THE TIME. Horse riding in the desert was insane, seeing the grand canyon was unbelievable, the Navajo dancing was mind blowing, this trip as a whole was such a pleasure to be part of! We are all grateful to the individuals that made our dreams a reality. Yeah buddy;) Renal:p

‘Today we went to Tuba city, first we visited an interactive museum about native american culture. It was really interesting, they told us about the different clans. Then we went to grand canyon which was mind blowing, I dont think any of us were expecting it to be as incredible as it was! The view was picture perfect, the whole experience, but best of all was mr fords facial expression when we got more than a metre to the edge..classic.’

A school trip or tour to Death Valley USA is one of the best locations for a school geography and maths trip, and Crofton School from the UK made the most of this natural beauty on their school tour during summer.

The group also incorporated the giddying heights of the Grand Canyon, Las Vagas and a well deserved visit to Universal Studios in sunny Los Angeles into their customised school geography and Maths tour group tour organised by Educating Adventures.

Paul Michelmore, head of maths, who was one of five staff members who accompanied the students on the trip, said: ‘It was absolutely brilliant and a great opportunity for the youngsters to experience something a little different.

‘Death Valley was incredible.

‘We lasted three minutes in the sand dunes at 123 degrees before one of the teacher’s trainers began to melt.

‘We were staying in the aptly named Furnace Creek Lodge, and everybody enjoyed late-night star gazing – we could even see the Milky Way as the night sky in the desert is so clear.

‘And the best time to swim was at night when the temperature at 10pm was still 100 degrees!’

The trip lasted eight days which gave all the students and teachers the chance to explore many sights including the Badwater salt flats at 282 feet below sea level, and the Hoover Dam on their way to Las Vegas.

After a night in Vegas, the group arrived at the Grand Canyon where all 48 students and staff braved the glass floor of the Skywalk – 4,000 feet above the Colorado river.

They also visited an Indian reservation before heading the 350 miles back to Los Angeles to stop by Hollywood, Beverley Hills, Santa Monica beach and Universal Studios.

Mr Michelmore said: ‘Overall, it was a once in a lifetime experience for the students.’
