Educational Trip – Urban Sprawl USA

Locations: Los Angeles, USA
Focus: Social Studies, Geography, Culture, Tourism
Recommended Duration: 5-8 days
Brief:
Los Angeles’ rapid population growth, expansive suburban areas and large population have put stresses on the city’s ability to provide basic services. There is increasing pressure on the city’s limited water supplies. City planners have tried to relieve public traffic congestion through efforts such as the promotion of car-pools, express bus services, a network of cycle-ways and even a new subway completed in 2000. Los Angeles is situated in a valley which causes emissions from cars to be trapped within it and linger above the city. A lack of public transport adds to smog woes. Housing is also extremely limited and costly. Sightseeing and shopping opportunities include visits to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Melrose Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.
