Environmental Science New Zealand

Adventure, learning and exciting activities all in one educational school trip.

Explore a variety of New Zealand's unique geographical features across the scenic North and South Islands.

This tour highlights the geological and biological features of one of the world's most beautifully preserved countries.

Internationally recognised for its distinct biodiversity, New Zealand is home to some of the world's fastest shrinking glaciers, remarkable wildlife species and stunning landscapes.

Educating Adventures offered excellent service for our school trip to NZ. They were very flexible and catered specifically to our group's needs — a 10/10 service and highly recommended.

Mr Ryan Davis-Philp, Dickson College, Canberra, Australia

Rare flora and fauna, unique geography and climate have developed in New Zealand primarily due to its long isolation from other landmasses and humans.

On this geography trip, your students will put classroom learning into practice as they immerse in one of the world's most unique geographical areas. Learn about current pressures on its environment from threats such as agriculture, tourism, and climate change and what is being done to promote recovery, sustainability and conservation efforts.

The Tasman Glacier

The Tasman Glacier is New Zealand's longest glacier, 27km in length and 600m deep. Students will touch 500-year-old glacier crystals and learn about the history of the iceberg as well as find out about scientist predictions for the coming years and how they drew those conclusions. Understand the ever-changing glacial landscape and the impact of an accelerated retreat and what that means for the terminal lake. Discover the unique features of the landscape and find out why the icebergs are tearing away from the glacier.

Tongariro National Park

Hike the trails in New Zealand's oldest national park and complete the Tongariro Alpine Crossing while discovering the geographical aspects of the land formation along the way. This activity can be modified to suit the ability levels of all students to enable everyone to enjoy the hike and experience the great outdoors. Students will see dramatic, awe-inspiring natural scenery and have the opportunity to discover unique landforms, including the volcanic peaks of Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and Ruapehu.

Mount Cook

Mount Cook is in Mt Cook National Park in the Southern Alps, the mountain range which runs the length of the South Island. The glaciers, rock pools and rugged environment offer an excellent opportunity for students to understand the geography of the region, learn about the formation of glaciers and the tectonic uplifting of the Pacific and Indo-Australian Plates. Students will also discover erosive forces in effect and how they shape the landscape over time.
